How to Make your own Website in a few Minutes Easily?

As soon as you finalize your business name, make your website. The sooner you create a website, the easier it will be to rank in search engines like Google.

If you can not find the exact domain name with your business name, do not worry. People are going to click on your website by searching in Google or clicking on social media post. No one is going to miss the exact spelling of your website.

If you can not find the exact .com domain for your business, then use alternative methods. At the end of the name of your business, you can use a word like an app or HQ with your business name as done by buffer and drain (buffrap dot com, groove.com).

Do I buy .com or .in domains?

• If your website is for Indian viewers then buy .in domain
• For global viewers, buy .com domains

I write about Indian personal finance so I have purchased .in domain
You can buy domain names from any company.
wordpress is a good option. You can buy from wordpress as well.
WordPress website is the simplest way of making your own website in a few minutes.
I signed up with Godaddy and faced a lot of issues with speed and support. Then I did research on finding a better hosting company and upgraded to Siteground. I realized that I was losing my potential business with slow servers of Godaddy.

When you get right with your passion and mix your brain that calculates cheap+best, then you find better options.
• Get a hosting in the budget of about Rs. 3500 with WordPress (Startup Plan).
• No hidden charges or lock-in for more than 1 year
• WordPress offers hug discount on SSL
I personally use WordPress and did not find any issues to date.
Do not spend too much time with the cost of hosting – buy whatever gets fit in your pocket, but spend more time building your business.
Just start working and you can always change the domain name.

Basic Settings of WordPress

I’m not sure what the purpose of your website really is, but in 99% of the cases, you will start writing a blog if you are using WordPress.

Make some necessary settings before publishing your first article.

1 – In permanent link

The first most important thing to correct is domain.com/post-name. This helps you better search engine optimization because your title text will appear in your URL.

2 – Subject

Unless you have some business, you do not have to buy any topic. WordPress offers tons of free topics. You should start with any decent subject without wasting too much time on topic selection as you can change the theme at any time without losing any of your data.

3 – Default URL

Replace the default URL with thebestjob.in instead of www.thebestjob.in. You can find it under normal settings.
All your website links will automatically redirect to the www version and you do not have to worry about the advance settings.

4 – Front page

You can set your home page to a static page or blog with a list of articles. It all depends on the purpose of your choice, website theme and website.
In the case of static pages, enter some relevant text on your website.

If you’re setting up your home page on a blog, change the settings to show the full text of the article instead of the list. I think you will not have too many articles in the beginning. When you publish at least five articles, change the setting back to the list.
You can find it under the reading settings

5 – Menu

You will not need the menu until you publish some internal pages, but if you are using a static page as your home page, then you have to show a link to the blog in the menu.

Plugins for WordPress

WordPress is powerful because of the awesome plugins that you can use for maintaining your website.
Just quickly go through the plugins, search each plugin in your add new plugin section of WordPress and install in few minutes.

These are the exact plugins that I use to keep my website in a good shape.

1. Akismet

Akismet protects your blog from spam comments. Its algorithm will automatically mark spammer’s comments spam and allow real people’s comments to appear on your articles.

The algorithm is 99% times correct. You have to occasionally check if spam comments are not getting approved or real people’s comments are not getting filtered out in spam category.
You can see this plugin by default in your wordpress login. You have to signup with Akismet to create a free account.

2. Jetpack

You can install jetpack plugin to get many useful widgets. Jetpack asks you to configure settings automatically. You may choose to enable selected settings manually.

3. Yoast SEO

It’s the most essential plugin for making your website SEO friendly. You don’t have to change anything in advance settings but just fill details in basic settings.

You should also generate a sitemap for your website using this plugin.

4. Sumo Me

I used Sumo plugin for collecting email addresses and putting social media sharing buttons on my website.
The plugin has many options. Don’t get overwhelmed as most of the options are useless in initial days.

You may use ‘Welcome Mat’, ‘Top Bar’, ‘Pop up’ for collecting emails. Make sure you don’t spoil the user experience by enabling all email collection plugins.
I like SumoMe sharing buttons because of two reasons.
• You can place sharing buttons at multiple places on your desktop website and mobile website.
• You can configure Whatsapp button for sharing on mobile website

5. TinyMCE Advanced

I like this plugin because it provides me additional editing options when I write articles in wordpress.

6. W3 Total Cache

If you are using Sightland Hosting, you do not need this plugin because you will get caching through SG cache (your site ground service).

But if you are using any other hosting.
I recommend installing a caching plugin to speed up the loading speed of your website.

The plugin will zip some static content and script and download it to the visitor’s computer. When your visitor opens another page of your website or returns to your website within a few days, your website will load faster.

Do not change advanced settings and use only the recommended settings mentioned on the page.

7. WP Smush

One more thing to speed up your website – Customize your images to load faster. WP smush will reduce the size of your images without compromising quality.

Why am I giving so much emphasis on speeding up your website?

Because your website will rank fast in Google with fast speed. Your visitors will have a great experience on the fast website.

How many times have you left the websites because they were loading at a slow speed? Many times, right?
If you do not want to leave your visitors due to stupidity, then work on your website’s growing speed.

8. Google Analytics for WordPress

You want to know how many people are going to your website on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. You also want to know where your visitors are coming to your website.

Create a free account on Google Analytics and create a unique code starting with the UA.
Use that code in the Google Analytics Plugin and you will be able to see your visitor statistics
You will know how many users are going to your website, how much time they are spending, what page they are going from, and what is the main source of traffic to your website.

9 .WP database backup

You do not want to lose any of your data due to technical problems or user’s mistakes. Install WordPress database backup plugin and schedule database backup on weekly basis.

10. Shortcodes Ultimate

Use this plugin to add color text boxes to content and many other options. Just install and play with the options.

1 1. Table of contents plus

If you pay attention, there is a table at the top of my list based articles. That table is automatically created by this plugin. The plugin will make your content beautiful and I hear that it also helps in SEO.

12. Mammoth.docx converter

You can upload your content from .docx to your WordPress posts and pages. We normally write content in Google Docs and then save it as .docx This plugin helps us remove unwanted HTML tags that come in the post if you copy-paste directly from Docs files to WordPress.

Now spend more time in content strategies and promotions on your website.
